Dana Jacobson brings a fresh approach to the "musical storyteller" genre, with an imagination, vocabulary and turn of a phrase that put the listener squarely in the middle of the yarn. An attorney by trade, Dana uses the advocate's skill with words to weave tight, well-crafted lyrics that bring old, familiar characters like Zaccheus the tax collector, Mary the mother of Jesus, and the three wise men into a whole new light. Set in a breathtaking variety of musical genres, his characters and stories will delight, inspire and deepen the insight of the listener into the spectacular world created by a loving Father and the depth of His love for us.

Dana is a self-described "Air Force brat and proud of it". He was born in New York to a fighter pilot from Austin and a belle from Brady, Texas ("I'm actually a Texan with a Certificate of Birth Abroad"), and attended 10 schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. He has lived in Pakistan, Venezuela and Panama, in addition to Florida, New York, Arizona, New Mexico and his beloved San Antonio.

He speaks fluent Spanish, having graduated from Colegio Internacional de Caracas, and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Radio-Television-Film from the University of Texas at Austin. Following four years in Texas radio, he attended St. Mary's University School of Law, receiving his law degree in 1985. Following six years on active duty with the U.S. Air Force Judge Advocate General's Department, he entered private practice in San Antonio. He is currently a shareholder in The Jacobson Law Firm. P.C., and continues to serve his country as a Colonel in the Air Force Reserves.

Dana describes his Christian walk: "My parents raised me to believe in Christ, and I don't recall ever not knowing that Jesus is the Son of God, that He died for my sins, and that when I die, I get to be with Him forever. However, a believing, Christian home didn't keep me from straying far from my Father's house. I barely saw the inside of a church during college, and it was the loneliest time of my life.

"Through the Lord's great love for me, I managed to escape relatively unscathed from my college days, and on December 31st, 1978, as I stepped into the First Methodist Church of Brady, Texas for my first Sunday church service after graduation, I heard a voice say, 'Welcome home'. That was the beginning of my intentional walk with Christ. I have taken a number of short detours since then, but God is faithful, and on August 17, 1985, He allowed me to marry my best friend, Betsy. We take each day with each other and our two daughters, Rachel and Mara, as a blessing". Members of University United Methodist Church in San Antonio, Texas, the Jacobsons are involved in many areas of ministry. Dana currently writes choral arrangement for, and directs, the praise choir at University Praise, the contemporary worship service at UUMC.

Dana's first published choral work was "Heaven and Nature Sing", published by Monarch Music, a division of the Lorenz Corporation, in 1997. He followed that with "Yes, I Am', published by Choralweb in 1999. "Cover me, Lord" is his first CD project, and contains all original works. Besides the title tune, the project includes "Run Zaccheus", which received  a third place award at the 1996 Christian Artists' Seminar in the Rockies, an international Christian songwriting competition.
